Starlings in conversation, on a branch, handpainted mug
With a dynamic and organic combination between partially scratching out the glaze and then covering it with a couple brushstrokes, it is every time a suprise how the end result will turn out. For this cup I worked with the idea of a couple starlings that I saw when I exited the forest. They were neatly divided along a branch and were having a conversation. When the sun shines on their feathers, they arent black but a sort of rainbow oily shimmer. This is an ode to them.
She is handpinched from natural stoneware clay and glazed with a matte white glaze on the outside, and glossy white on the inside for a food friendly finish. Topped with a ultramarine blue painting of startings in a tree. There is only one of this mug.
Mug is dishwasher proof, but ceramics do like to be handwashed because thats a bit less agressive.
