The sparrow cup

A secret not so secret favorite, the sparrow cup. Christina has quite the fat and happy sparrows in her garden and this cup shows two of them browsing around, looking for a nest and for eachother. This is one of those paintings in where every brushstroke works. I see the wind, I see the branches slowly moving up and down, the sparrows hopping from branch to branch. 

This is a wheel thrown cup from stoneware clay, created by Lydia. She was handpainted with cobalt blue underglaze by Christina and topped with a matte transparent glaze. She was fired with a top temperature of 1250 degrees celcius. 

This cup is unique. Small imperfections are part of the handmade aesthetic.
