The white heron mug

We love white herons, they feel mythical. Painting them is a curious thing on its own, because you mostly paint her surroundings and then with a few added stripes, a heron wades through the water. Looking for a snack!

This is a wheel thrown cup from stoneware clay, created by Lydia. She was handpainted with cobalt blue underglaze by Christina and topped with a matte transparent glaze. She was fired with a top temperature of 1250 degrees celcius. 

This cup is unique. Small imperfections are part of the handmade aesthetic.
